  • Why trade with Jordan?

Located in the center of the Middle East, strategically situated between Europe, Asia, and Africa, Jordan enjoys a unique geographical advantage for international business and trade. Jordan has successfully turned this advantage into economic opportunities – it became a member of the World Trade Organization in 2000; signed Free Trade Agreements with the U.S. (2000), Canada (2009), Singapore (2004), European (Jordan-EU Association Agreement – 1997 and Jordan-EFT Agreement) and Middle East-North African countries (GAFTA – 1998, AGHADIR – 2001, and Turkey – 2009); and engaged in bilateral economic agreements with more than 70 countries around the world. Supporting these agreements are enabling platforms for business and trade. Jordan boasts various free trade, business development, and industrial zones which provide streamlined services, and grant customs and quota free access to a market of over one billion consumers all around the world. Jordan is without question one of the most liberalized and business-friendly economies in the region.

  • What are the documents necessary for importing from Jordan?
- Required documents for exporter in Jordan:
  • Export License
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Certificate of Origin

NOTE: Streamlined access to the U.S.: In addition to tariff exemptions, Jordanian imports access the U.S. through streamlined procedures due to the Jordan – U.S. FTA, the QIZs, and Generalized System of Preference. Please check the U.S. Customs and Borders Protection for information necessary to declare imports entering the U.S.
 

  • What are the documents necessary for exporting to Jordan?


- Maritime or air bill of lading.
- Commercial invoice indicating value, weight, freight and insurance charges etc.
- Commercial invoices and shipping related certificates (Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Health, and others) should be notarized by a notary public. NOTE: legalization of commercial documents by the Embassy of Jordan are no longer required through an agreement between Jordan and the World Trade Organization members (U.S. included).
- Value declaration form for shipments exceeding 2,000 Jordanian Dinars (approximately US $2,825).

  • Do I need to legalize commercial invoices and shipping related certificates prior to shipping items to Jordan?

Please note that commercial invoices and shipping related certificates (Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Health, and others) are no longer required to be legalized by the Embassy of Jordan through an agreement between Jordan and the World Trade Organization members (U.S. included). They should be notarized by a notary public prior to sending them with your shipment to Jordan.
